Our time in Koh Phangan!

Hi loves! Another travel related post today! I suppose I’m really pining for a holiday and the trouble is when you want to get away you start thinking about the places you have visited that you will remember for the rest of your life. Today I wanted to talk about my time in Koh Phangan in Thailand!

There are lots of different types of Thailand holiday’s, so when my husband and I traveled to Thailand for a friend’s wedding, we planned our trip so we could visit as many places as possible and at the top of the list was to go to a full moon party. We however wanted a nice balance between relaxing and partying!

Now I think we all know that Koh Phangan is the place to experience the full moon party. So after a little bit of research, I booked us a hotel at the other side of the Island to the town where the full moon parties happen. Obviously before you go, you make assumptions about the type of place you are visiting. I presumed that this Island would be the place to be for nightlife and partying, James and I do love to party, but we are a little bit older so like to relax as well.

We travelled from Koh Samui by ferry, once we arrived on the island we got a taxi at the port to our accommodation. It was a busy place, because the full moon party was happening that night, but as we were driving around the Island, I noticed how idyllic it was and I was excited at the thought of getting out and exploring.

We arrived at our beach bungalows, Baan Panburi Village, which is situated on a beach known as Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach.  Our bungalow was in the middle of the resort, surrounded by greenery and wildlife.

We decided to head out for a walk and were taken back by how beautiful the beach was, it was so secluded and then we went for lunch at the hotel bar. After this, it was time to head to get ready and head to the full moon party!

Haad Rin was buzzing! There were so many people having fun and enjoying all that was on offer. We had such an amazing time at the full moon party, we enjoyed the atmosphere and danced the night away! When it was time to head back to the bungalows, I was a little relieved and eager for the next few days of relaxing in paradise.

In the days that followed, we spent a lot of time taking in the beautiful surroundings, escaping from the hustle and bustle and we felt a world away from everyone else. We practically had the whole beach to ourselves. We visited at the beginning of December, so it was still fairly early on in the season, but I’m sure this place would be just as tranquil at any time of the year.

On one day, it did rain fairly heavy and James and I sat on the balcony of our bungalow reading and relaxing. This has become one of my favourite memories of the whole entire holiday. Even though it was raining, we were in the most beautiful surroundings.

I really recommend visiting the Flip Flop Pharmacy which is one of the bars along the beach. It’s a quirky bar, with swings as seats! They serve cocktails and do amazing pizzas too. If you’re looking to venture further a field, check out Bottle Beach and the Than Sadet waterfall!

I loved it here so much and even though Koh Phangan is associated with “Partying” it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I’m even thinking about going back with my family one day. I know my little one would love the beach!

Have you been to Thailand, where was your favourite place?
