So, I’ve raved about the Primark beauty range on the blog before – you can check those posts out by clicking here and here – but I have been loving the false eyelashes that they have on offer lately! I thought I would do a quick post today, a Primark false eyelashes review!
I’m all about budget when it comes to most of my beauty buys and I want to stress that there’s no shame in not wanting to spend a lot on your beauty products. I’ve certainly been made to feel like a cheapskate in the past and I think a lot of people fall into the trap of thinking that if it costs a lot more, it’s a better quality but with products like false eyelashes, that is not the case! Unless you really want a mink lash, then don’t be afraid to try something a little more budget friendly. If you care for your cheap falsies correctly, there is no reason why you can’t use them again and again!
Hi everyone, I’ve had a week off from the blog, mainly because I haven’t been feeling too good. Everything seems to be getting on top of me at the moment but I’m back today sharing my thoughts on foundation with you in this Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation review!
I couldn’t wait to try this foundation. I rarely get excited about a high end product, but this to me was like the answer to all my prayers! This Magic Foundation claims to provide “flawless, poreless, long lasting coverage” which definitely sounded like something I needed to try. On the Charlotte Tilbury website it tells you that it took five years to create this “miracle in a bottle foundation” which contains a supercharged Vitamin C which helps to not only cover all your imperfections, but it helps to reduce these over time with continued use.
The skin on my face is quite problematic I have really oily skin, dark circles around and under the eyes, enlarged pores and some patches of hyperpigmentation so for a foundation it is really important that I get full coverage. One of the selling points of this foundation was that it covers all that on it’s own, meaning there is no need for concealer.
Welcome to the first instalment of beauty buy of the month at The Plus Size of Life! I know I said this post would originally hit the blog on Friday, I couldn’t wait any longer! This new monthly feature is all about that one beauty product I have bought that I cannot get enough of! This month, it’s the Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask!
I’ve made no secret on the blog about my struggle with my terrible oily skin. Day to day, I only use oil free moisturiser and makeup so as to not add to the problem. I literally go out of my way everyday to avoid adding excess moisture to my skin, to use products that diffuse the oil and to make my skin as matte as it can be to make my makeup last! The trouble with that is that at least once a month, I notice patches of my skin that are dry and flaky because there literally is no moisture left in my skin.
When this happens, it can be so frustrating because it’s hard to find the perfect balance, to get rid of the dry and flaky without adding to the problem of the oil! I was researching intensive moisture treatments to help me and came across the Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask!
Hi all, I’m still in builder hell at mine, so for now my fashion posts have taken a back seat, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for beauty on the blog! Like any self respecting makeup addict, I love a good highlight! This Freedom Makeup Pro Blush and Highlight Palette review features the bronze and baked palette!
Since Freedom Makeup is one of Makeup Revolutions sister brands, I was so eager to get my hands on something when I saw that they sold it in my local Superdrug. I thought I would choose a blush palette, as I love the blush palettes from Makeup Revolution. I myself prefer a brown or light pink toned blusher when applying my makeup rather than something warmer and orangy pink, that is why I chose the bronze and baked palette.
In this palette you get a mixture of highlighter, blusher and bronzer. I’m assuming the lighter shades are highlighters and the darker shades are blushes, with two bronzers placed in the middle.
When it comes to darker shades of lipstick, I’m a bit of a newbie. I finally found one that I actually like on myself, it was so hard to choose but I decided to share my choice with you, it’s the NYX Matte Lipstick in Goal Digger!
So NYX is everywhere at the moment, my local Boots now have a huge stand and where better to head for advice on the perfect dark lipstick for me than to the NYX counter. I went one lunch time and spoke to a wonderful and helpful lady. I just said I wanted a dark plum shade and she picked this out straight away. Not only did she choose off the top of her head, she made sure I liked it and then tested it out on me and expertly applied it to my lips! I did feel a little bit nervous because I have never worn anything as daring as this during the day let alone to work! I told her how nervous I was about wearing it and she gave me some great advice about how it was all in the confidence!
I adore Makeup Revolution, but sometimes the products are just not what I expected them to be like! With such a vast range to choose from, it can be hard to decide what to buy. So to give you an idea I thought I would share my Makeup Revolution hits and misses with you which contains my favourite products as well as some that for me just did not work!
1. I love all the £4 eyeshadow palettes from Makeup Revolution, but my favourite of all of them has to be the Iconic 3. It is my go to palette for everyday looks and is so pigmented! I buy this often because I use it so much!
2. The Fortune Favours the Brave palette is a fairly recent buy of mine and boy was it worth it. The palette is something special and has some many gorgeous pigments in. It is perfect for the party season as there are some gorgeous marbled shadows to make your eyes really pop!
3. The first blush palette I bought was the Golden Sugar and it is my all time fave. This is perfect for me as I have quite pale skin and don’t like anything too dark! I love how the blush and highlight shades compliment each other whichever ones you choose!
4. Being new to creating intense eye looks, I was looking for a crease brush that wouldn’t break the bank and this is the one I chose. I love love love it and use it every single day.
I have always loved makeup, it is my favourite thing about my day. I love just getting up and getting my face on, it makes me feel so much more confident and ready for anything. That said, I have had to learn a few things on the way so whether you’re a veteran or just starting to try new things I wanted to share with you five makeup tips that changed my makeup game!
This may seem pretty obvious, but because I have oily skin, I only ever used to moisturise on an evening. I thought that moisturising the skin before applying makeup made the oil I produced throughout the day worse, when in actual fact it does the opposite! Keeping the skin well moisturised with an oil free formula helps to rehydrate the skin and balance the skins natural levels which in time means you may stop producing as much oil. Try something likeClinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel £30 to help control that shine! Wayne Goss also swears by using lashings of moisturiser before foundation for a smooth finish – girls it really works!
So last week I really wanted to create a rose gold eye look. I posted for advice in a group i’m in on Facebook and the lovely Hannah recommended the MUA Luxe Enchanted eyeshadow palette to me. I went to Superdrug that day to buy it and instantly fell in love with with it and I really wanted to review it for you as soon as I could!
Firstly, how pretty is this palette? I love the unique design and how all the shades are fused together. The MUA Luxe Enchanted eyeshadow palette contains 5 silk shadows all shimmery shades which are gold in tone. It’s quite small, but good things come in small packages right?
The packaging makes the product feel really high end, it’s super sleek and I love the contrast of the black and white. I love how the shadows are laid into the palette, the different shapes and gradients contained within are so unique. It looks like a shimmer block except it’s for your eyes!
Doing my make up is definitely my most favourite part of the day! So as I love sharing all my favourite things, I thought it was about time that I shared my daily make up routine with you all!
I always moisturise with an oil free moisturiser and then a mattifying primer. For everyday, I’ve been using the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer, which I’m loving. I then use a small amount of concealer to cover any obvious blemishes before foundation.
Foundation and Concealer
I like to make sure that I use an oil free foundation, mostly because my skin is an oily mess! I’m using the Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation at the moment, its not too thick but provides excellent coverage. I then go in under my eyes, in between my brows and on my chin with Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer, which is a shade lighter than my foundation, I use a micro blender to blend this out and then this is my highlight!
