Spot on skin care

I have tried several different types of skin care routine in the past but nothing has stuck with me. My most recent routine however is one that is definitely going to stay.

I have been blinded by price, in the past, believing that skin care has to cost a bomb to be effective, in this post I am aiming to show you that this is not the case. I have used everything from Clinique to REN and I haven’t had anywhere near the results I get with my current routine. My skin has never felt so fresh and soft, as well as hydrated. Here are the products I am currently using:

Morning facial wash

When I wake up in the morning, I wash my face with an exfoliating facial scrub. The one I use is from Superdrug and it is one from their own brand of Tea Tree Skincare products.

Tea Tree Skincare Exfoliating Cream Wash  – £3.29 Superdrug

Tea tree oil is known for its antibacterial properties and is a great way to wake your skin up in the morning after a long nights sleep. It also helps fight against pesky breakouts and contains walnut shell granules to help soften the skin.  This product also cleanses skin so I use it for that purpose in the mornings as well.

Spot Solution

Gone are the days as a teenager where you would put a dab of toothpaste on a spot at night to help it clear by the morning (as if I used to do that *cringe*) Every now and again I do suffer from a breakout. Its annoying as I take every step to ensure my skin is clean and fresh to avoid them. When I do get a pesky little spot, I like to use a quick fix solution to stop the redness and ensure that no one can see it! I use a spot stick, which again is from Tea Tree Skincare by Superdrug, its called the Action Spot Stick

A thin layer of this relieves any soreness and also works to reduce redness leaving me feeling confident I can leave the house!! Plus it contains tea tree and we know how good that is for spots on the face.

Cleanser, Toner and Moisturiser

Growing up my mum used to lecture me about how important it was to Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise, now I am older I wish I had listened and started doing it in my teens as I feel I have ruined my skin by wearing make up as a teen and not protecting my it properly. But, better late than never.

My cleanser, toner and moisturiser all come from the same family of Garnier products.

In the evenings, I start by taking the days make up off using the Simply Essentials Soothing Cleansing lotion. I love this one because it has no perfume or colourants and is suitable for eye make up removal as well.

Garnier  Simply Essentials Soothing Cleansing Lotion – £1.99 Superdrug

This cleanser is great at removing make up, I hardly need any of the product on my cotton wool, plus it does not irritate my skin. I also use this in the morning after washing my face to just make sure that my skin is ultra cleansed.

Toner has always been a sore spot for me. I was never really sure what its purpose was or where to place it in my skincare routine. I now use it after cleansing as I know that it helps to make sure that skin is left ultra clean by removing impurities. I use this Garnier Refreshing Toner.

Garnier Start Afresh, Refreshing toner – £2.10 Superdrug

It’s great because, unlike others I have used in the past, it is gentle and does not leave my skin stinging once I have finished with it, which means it is suitable for sensitive skin. It smells lovely because it contains lotus flower extract and moringa seeds, which are known for their antioxidant properties.

Finally my daily moisturiser is another from Garnier, its the Moisture Match Light Softening Cream.

This moisturiser boasts 24 hours of hydration, whilst being fast absorbing. I have to say it is one of the best moisturisers I have ever used. Its not greasy at all and not long after applying it I am ready to put on my makeup. Its light formula means it is perfect for people with sensitive skin. I love using this with a BB Cream as I feel they pair well and keep my skin from becoming dry.

Most of the products I use are for Normal to Combination or Normal to dry Skin, because I go through phases of having dry and then oily skin.

What do you think of using affordable Skin Care? Do you think that some premium products are over priced for the results that you get? What products are included in your Daily Routine?
