Ok, so my ongoing obsession to find a great drugstore foundation at a great price for oily skin continues. I recently bought the Maybelline fit me matte and poreless foundation after hearing some great things on YouTube about it.
This foundation makes some pretty big claims! It’s a liquid foundation for normal to oily skin that:
- Mattifies and refines pores with blurring micro-powders for poreless looking skin
- matches skin tone and texture
- gives a natural, seamless finish
I chose to buy the foundation that comes in a tube, but you can also buy it in bottle form which has a different range of colours from the tube to suit different skin shades. Why this is I don’t know, but I went for the shade 110, Porcelain which turned out to be quite a good match for me. I love the packaging, it looks really professional and I love the colours!
I was really sceptical when I bought this, how can one product cater for normal to oily skin? To me, if you have normal skin you don’t have any dryness or oily parts at all. I have really oily skin and I tend to look like a greasy pizza halfway through the day. My pores are quite large and it takes something special to cover them!
I’ve tried mattifying foundations before that do nothing for me. They tend to clog on my skin and leave it looking cakey, so I was surprised at the formula of this, it’s quite watery rather than thick and actually applies to the skin really well. I found that this foundation is best applied with a brush, it dries quite quickly but this allows you to buff it into the skin really well. I tried with a blender but it did not look as seamless as it does when applied with a brush.
I’ve been using the Maybelline fit me matte and poreless foundation over moisturiser with no primer and applying the rest of my make up as normal and I have to say I’m impressed.
My pores appear significantly reduced in size and it looked really natural all day. The best thing about it was that in the middle of the day, there was no where near as much oil produced on my forehead as there would normally be! My nose still had the same amount, but I can never get any make up to stick there anyway!
I tried it for a day without powder and it worked ok, but not as well as it did with the Maybelline Matt Maker powder, which I think compliments this foundation really well.
Overall a great foundation, I love the formula better still it actually lives up to the claims it makes! I think this is a great foundation if you’re looking for something
Have you tried this foundation? What did you think?
