Hi everyone! I hope this post finds you well, my quest to find the perfect affordable foundation continues and on the blog today is a review of the L’oreal Paris Infallible Total Cover Foundation!
Every so often, a new product is released that claims to be the answer to all my foundation nightmares and promises to help me achieve that perfect base on a budget. My foundation needs to be full coverage, it needs to last the day and it needs to be a great price!
This foundation definitely makes some bold claims, mainly that it is a full coverage base that can last up to 24 hours. Not only that, but it claims “The zero compromise, camouflage formula covers everything from blemishes, redness and tattoos without the overload, while the matte finish leaves you with an even, shine-free base. NO COMPROMISE. NO TRANSFER. NO OVERLOAD” I was really keen to give it a go and replaced my usual daily foundation with this as soon as I got my hands on it!
I love the packaging, it’s fun and fresh and really stands out from others available on the drugstore market at the moment. I chose the shade #10 Porcelain, as i like to keep my base light and add colour to my face using other products, it’s a really great match if you are light like me.
Upon squeezing some of this out of the tube, I realised it was not what I was expecting at all. I am so used to full coverage foundations being runny liquids, that I was really sceptical about using this thick almost creamy formula on my skin. It was thick but light as well. I can’t really describe it to be honest but I was definitely curious!
At first, I couldn’t work with the texture. I love using a beauty blender to apply my foundation, however it was really hard to work with and pat into this skin as I usually do with my liquid foundations. I decided to try and to almost buff it into the skin with the blender and this seemed to work better. Once finished I started to pat as I usually do to even the texture and I was left with a nice coverage. I’e also tried using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to really work it into the skin and I have to say I was really impressed. It blended into my skin so naturally and the brush did not leave any streaky marks like you get when you use a brush sometimes.
In terms of coverage, this foundation is amazing. I normally apply a colour corrector or concealer before my foundation just for a bit of extra coverage, but I haven’t done this at all whilst using this foundation and I am pleased to say it provides amazing coverage! It covers blemishes and my patches of hyperpigmentation really well. In terms of wearability, it does last all day, although I do apply a powder over the top because I have oily skin just for some extra insurance! The only place it does not stay all day for me is my nose, but I have this problem with any foundation. I feel like it does a great job of creating a barrier to all that nasty oil I seem to have by the middle of the day.
One tip with this is that a little goes a long way, do not over apply or else you may end up a cakey mess as I have discovered after over applying when I’ve been half asleep at 6am! Apart from that I adoreeeee this product!
If you’re looking for something that is affordable and lasts all day, this is definitely the foundation for you, I really haven’t tried something like this for a long time and it has definitely become my go to everyday foundation. I even think that this would be perfect when you’re on holiday because it provides a great matte finish all day long!
